Keep Rockin on Valentines

February 14th, 2008

It’s the month of the year where shopping assassins break loose buying that special gift for that special someone. But nowadays, it’s the day to enjoy and pamper yourself with your friends. Valentine’s Day in many countries is not exclusive for those in a relationship or similar. It’s the day to celebrate friendship, make new ones, and hit on the cutest guy in the bar or park!

So regardless of your location, all curvy-licious femmes go out and have fun. Take advantage of the occasion to feel sexy for your man, your girl and/or your gang. Become a Valentine’s citizen of the world.

If work or home is stressing you, break free. If something is giving you trouble, dump it. And if you are having those body issue dramas, get over it! Easier said than done right? Over the years I’ve come to the conclusion that confidence shows through and attracts. Feeling comfortable with yourself is not sporadically, it’s a choice. It’s up to you to make it happen. If you make the effort to feel comfortable in your own skin, your inner beauty will be reflected in your smile and mood. It’s the chance to make Valentines unforgettable for you!

Complement your inner health with a drop dead gorgeous outfit to get the night rockin’. Get that dress out of your closet, or venture on for that piece of clothing that takes your sleep away.

When it comes to dressing up, everyone has their favorites. Your girlfriend loves her curvy enhancing jeans. Your colleague always picks the cool top and stylish skirt. Your other girlfriend is a dress freak. Some pay more attention to their underneath stilettos. The girly lingerie or the sultry corset. Either of these make sexy options. Here are my top 10 picks to Valentine-it up this 2008

Intimate Picks:

1. Lingerie
Thankfully there are some great labels offering sexy intimates for us curvy girls. Go for the chemise and g-string or try out the Marie-Antoinette corset

2. Body Shapers
The answer to every girls nip and tuck. Now we can accentuate our curves by smoothing our bits. You can look sexy and slick.

3. Hot Hosiery
Heat up your stylish dress or private after party with gorgeous thigh highs. Bring those legs into view.

4. Sexy Slippers
Call me old fashioned but I have always been a fan of the high heeled satin slippers, so if you are planning a romantic night at home, these are a “must have”.

Outfit Picks:

5. The Dress

Make a stand in your favorite print or hue. Regardless of the style cut, imperial or princess, the idea is to feel like an actual princess!

6. Stay Warm
February is still a little chilly so keep warm on your night out. Try a cute ¾ cardie or long sleeve for the more cold. If you are wearing a dress, try a short stylish coat.

7. Accessorize
Add some sparkle to your gear. Remember diamonds are a girl’s best friend.

8. Shoes
If Manolo’s are out of the budget, keep searching for the Cinderella fit. Feeling comfy on the outside will show. So your feet being sore is out of the question.

9. Bag
The bag will enhance your outfit but it can also break it. Choose well the perfect match.

10. Scent-sational
To finish off the entire look remember to shroud yourself in your favorite perfume.

The Start of the Week

January 9th, 2008

The start of the new week, and I am running out of work clothes. The drought season has extended to my closet. No matter what size you are, all women have been in this situation more than once. Even if you schedule that ‘outfit’ for a special occasion, at least two of your colleagues or friends pop by that evening. With your extreme bad luck, it is them who see you in it most of the times. Back at the office, your boss has seen you in the grey pinafore over and over again. You’re already imagining he thinks you’re struggling moneywise. Dam wrong he is! The real answer is lack of time.

My grandma had plenty of time to cook a meal, clean the house and shop till she dropped. Unfortunately, I don’t. She helped run the family real state business; nevertheless she would always stress the balance of life and work. In these days, the idea of balance has rocketed out my window since I can’t make it to my favourite store before it closes. I’m always stuck at work.

I have also realised that it’s not that easy for us plus size girls to shop in our lunch break, as the shopping centre usually has a maximum of three stores that cater for our size. This makes it harder to shop, especially when we don’t have time. How about on the weekend? Do you have to study or pick up the kids from soccer? Whatever the situation, I’m feeling even more comfortable with buying online. There are great designs at affordable prices. The best part is that it’s delivered to your doorstep. If you are really busy, or keep postponing your trip to your favourite store because you just can fit it in the agenda. I suggest you take a virtual shopping trip during your luck break. You might not get to stretch those legs but it will save you some embarrassment.
