Paris Hilton Music CD - Stars Are Blind
Paris Hilton has done it all in her short lifetime (being only 28 years of age and already on top of the world). She has also inspired a whole new generation of young women to “dress up” and look like a princess, thankfully dissolving the trailer trash trends set by Courtney Love and (forgive me) Pamela Lee. Paris Hilton, her personal controversies aside, is good for fashion.
Much has already been written about Paris Hilton’s beauty, her personal lifestyle (and many dogs) as well as her line of fragrances. What about Paris Hilton music? Has her music career been as successful as her other endeavors? Has her celebrity been able to carry her into the music business? Well, as Bob Dylan can tell you it’s not always about your singing ability that takes you to the top. What matters is your persona, your name and reputation, along with your marketable face.
Paris Hilton helped to create Heiress Records, which is a sub-label of Warner Bros. Her first album released in 2006 was entitled “Paris” and reached number six on the Billboard 200. Her first single “Stars Are Blind” was a top 10 hit nationally and internationally. Even such respected publications as AllMusic reported that her album—much like her persona in that it had a certain tongue-in-cheek whimsicalness to it—was probably more fun than a typical Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson album. She is still working on a second album, and has already earned praise for her work on “My BFF”, “Paris for President” and “Jealousy.”
Her most significant contribution to music was her work as Amber Sweet in the Goth rock opera film Repo! The Genetic Opera. Although Paris initially faced the wrath of many critics, including her own director Darren Lynn Bousman (who like many, “heard” so many negative things about the starlet) her performance was fabulous and career-defining. Director Bousmnan later went on record saying, “We gave her some music and said, 'You have one day to come back and perform this.' She came back the next day, memorized everything [and] was pitch-perfect. I mean she was awesome.”
You can still enjoy the sounds of Paris on CD including many of her best hits like “Stars Are Blind” and “Paris for President.” One thing is for sure about Paris: she has a larger-than-life personality, a pleasant singing voice, and a beautiful face that even “genetic repo surgery” can’t disfigure.
